Our Firm
Our Beginning

In 1992, after starting and selling a number of his own businesses, Phil Currie came to understand the incredible value that is gained from using an experienced third party to run a sale process that generates multiple offers in a competitive environment. Believing that lower middle market companies, those typically with annual revenue from a few million dollars to several hundred million dollars, were inadequately represented when it came time to sell, he started Shoreline Partners, LLC. Since that time, Shoreline has focused on representing the owners of privately held companies throughout the West in sale, acquisition and financing transactions - all opportunities for business owners where high levels of creativity, marketing, communication and negotiating skills are critical. Shoreline has come to be recognized as the leading investment banking and M&A advisory firm in San Diego.

Growth and Leadership

Since 1992, the Firm has expanded with the addition of experienced professionals who are leaders in the San Diego community. Tim Malott joined Phil as a partner in 1994. Tim is a former CPA and national bank president, with a long history of leadership in San Diego, serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, President of the Association for Corporate Growth of San Diego, and as the leader of the Corporate Deal Professionals group of ProVisors. Kerry Morris joined the Firm as a partner in 2003. Kerry's experience includes the pharmaceutical industry and running the CFO services division of a prominent San Diego CPA firm. Together, these three experienced professionals continue to lead the Firm.

In 2005, the partners decided that to best serve their clients with the highest level of professionalism, and to comply with emerging federal and state regulations, the firm should create a licensed broker-dealer, which became ShP Securities, LLC. Through ShP, the firm's M&A professionals have pursued and obtained securities licenses including Series 79 Investment Banking. This licensing ensures that the highest level of quality is provided to the Firm's sell-side clients.
