Mr. Homan joined Shoreline Partners in 2018 as a Managing Director. Homan comes to the Company with an extensive background assisting small business owners in preparing and selling their businesses for sale. He has previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of a venture capital firm. He also founded a company that he guided through the IPO process on NASDAQ. He is a licensed attorney (Ohio inactive). His career includes initial experience as an accountant through the division controllership of a large division of a major medical diagnostic imaging company. He played a role in the development and commercialization of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology.
Homan graduated from the University of Akron with a BS in accounting and marketing. He is also a graduate of Cleveland Marshal Law School earning a Juris Doctorate (JD) which he completed in four years in the evening while working as an accountant during the day. He completed the Executive Management Program at Case Western Reserve University, the executive course in marketing at the American Management Association. He also certified as an instructor for the Dale Carnegie Institute. He is an instrument rated pilot.
Mr. Homan has been active throughout his career in non-profits specifically focused on business startups and entrepreneurship. He spent several years volunteering as a counselor with SCORE, an affiliate of the SBA. He currently volunteers as an Entrepreneur In Residence with Connect. Originally founded by UC San Diego, its mission is to support innovation in the San Diego community. Homan specifically volunteers in the Springboard program which serves as an incubator and launch platform for start-up and early stage companies. Homan in one of just a few people in California to earn the Certified Business Broker (CBB) designation, a designation that he has had for more than a decade.
