OUR MISSION

OUR HISTORY

Learning From Experience
The first thoughts of investment banking occurred in the early 1980s when long time close friends, Phil Currie and Mike Brustkern, met to discuss the results from selling their respective companies.  They each were operating new companies and wanted to avoid the mistakes they made selling their earlier companies.  They understood the power of multiple buyers and effectiveness of a third party negotiator.  They made an agreement among themselves to serve as each other’s representative when it was time for one of their businesses to be sold.

Seizing the Opportunity
By 1992, both Currie and Brustkern believed that very few middle market companies were adequately represented during sale transactions.  Few, if any, companies were benefiting from a competitive discrete auction process.  Most were being sold to a single buyer who contacted them with an offer.  Currie and Brustkern concluded many of these transactions were completed at a significant discount from the selling company’s real value.  Seizing this opportunity, the two friends decided to build an investment banking firm offering the same level of service to middle market companies as were expected by Wall Street companies

Two Office Locations
Mike Brustkern opened an office in Seattle and Phil Currie opened a San Diego office.  Over the next two years they worked together and completed numerous transactions.

Growth and Recognition
In 1994 Tim Malott joined Phil Currie in the San Diego office.  They changed their name to Shoreline Partners, LLC.   By 1999, Shoreline had established itself as a well known investment bank throughout California.  In 2000 Shoreline expanded its geographic reach and began accepting clients located in Nevada and Arizona.  Since that time, Shoreline has experienced continual growth and has twice outgrown its offices.

Expanding Services
While Shoreline’s specialty is selling companies, it has also demonstrated skill in completing acquisitions for its clients.  WD-40 Company engaged Shoreline when it determined it needed to diversify.  Shoreline completed numerous acquisitions for WD-40 Company.

In 2004, Kerry Morris joined Shoreline Partners, LLC as a Partner.  Kerry brought the firm unique capabilities and sources for raising capital.

ShP Securities, LLC, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shoreline Partners, LLC and is a broker-dealer member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), formerly the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).
